- unserious silly little swap au. theres no overarching plot or anything tehe. i just swap dm and peteys outlooks on life essentially. everything else is about the same. but there is some exposition stuff
- the accident is still peteys doing. one of his inventions blows up and greg and knight are caught right in the middle of it. he is unaware of the fact that hes the reason dm is dm.
- this is also why dm hates peteys ass initially
- lil petey is created bc . well u can see the comic. LOL. just through a series of comically convenient events
- in canon petey is taken seriously while dm is not so i kinda switched that dynamic for swap au LOL
- dm initially kidnaps lil petey just to antagonize petey. however lil petey is an escape artist and he escapes any restraint that dm puts on him. eventually dm gives up on trynna restrain him bc he doesnt try to run away and he kinda js keeps him company
- eventually dm jsut keeps kidnapping lil petey every time he escapes jail and hanging out w him .
- petey freaked out at the first kidnapping but lil petey always comes home safe and he always tells petey about how much fun he had with dm and theres heavy implication that dm treats him very well so petey is like . well. okay. i wont reject free babysitting i guess
- dm eventually moves into peteys house bc petey finds out that dm has been sleeping under an overpass and he cant in good conscious leave him there
- there comes a point in the story where petey finds out that hes the cause of all of dms trauma . he does not handle this fact very wellfun facts:
- dm has a burn scar that covers his left chest and upper arm
- in swap au lil petey serves to teach petey how to value himself as a person. if in canon his role is to teach petey that the world is worth loving then in swap au lps role is to teach petey that his own self is worth loving .
- knights crimes mostly consisted of accidental assault while acting in self defense and stealing necessities. if petey in canon serves as a critique of the us prison/justice system then knight also serves a similar purpose. theres an added critique against the public schooling system and how it leaves behind kids who cant keep up instead of helping them
- greg was a stray and knight was the only person to show him any love or kindness even . seeing the world treat knight so shittily made him kinda jaded
- greg spent a lot of his time as a guard dog to protect knight. he is almost always in a fight or flight state/constant semi stressed state
- dm has a lot of paranoia about his loved ones getting injured. the accident with knight and his inability to prevent it traumatized him Hella . as a result when he realizes that he actually cares about lp and petey he does Not handle it very well .
- the overpass was the closest thing dm had to a home back when knight was alive. knight was homeless . they werent always safe under the overpass but it was where they could wind down after another day of surviving
- i reckon sometimes even after moving in w petey dm still goes and sleeps under the overpass when he really misses knight
DUSK AUsynopsis:
- petey returns to his hometown after 5 years of staying faaaar away from it in order to plan his dads funeral (grampa isnt a deadbeat in this au. just a neglectful bum).
- hes in a bit of a weird mood with his dad passing (nostalgia and whatnot) so he decides to stay for a year and enrolls lil petey into the local school
- in this au lil petey is peteys biological son. his other parent is just someone petey was fooling around with. they are a deadbeat.
- one day as lil petey is walking home from school he stops by a convenience store. guess who runs this convenience store (ITS DOG MANNNN)
- lp and dm just hang out for a while . lp does his homework at the counter and helps around the store and dm gives him little snacks to eat while he studies
- one day petey has a free day and decides to pick up lp from school . lp says wait! we gyatta visit my friend! and petey is like okay. he takes him to the convenience store BOOM dog man
- this is Incredibly awkward because dm and petey knew each other in high school and they have kind of a history. lettuce 🥬 get into this history
- in hs petey was a little troubled bc of his shit ass living situation (dead mom bum ass dad) so he woulid just get up to shit and cause trouble . the school couldnt rlly expel him or anything bc hes literlaly the smartest kid in . the entire school. so he kidna js gets away with it .
- that is until dm starts (metaphorically) telling him off . this kicks off their shit ass rivalry and they basicakly just tussle. petey messes w dm and dm avoids it and fucks up his plans of tomfoolery
- one day after a particularly tiring fight they kinda just sit and talk (dm writing). and boom friendship . altho neither of them would ever admit it
- at some point they both start learning asl but treat it as a competition so they can keep pretending that they dont like each other
- they still tussle but now at the end of the day they kinda js walk home tgth and shoot the shit
- during this shooting of the shit dm tells petey about how he really wants to help people and hes really passionate about some career/field (undecided for now) . this passion is foreign to petey bc hesk inda js going. through the motions of life and hoping it works out. he doesnt rlly have any dreams ofr aspirations. as a result he subconsciously starts placing dm on a pedestal and thinking that hes better than him.
- eventually dm tells petey that he likes him and petey being emotionally repressed and avoidant freaks out about it . he lets it slip and implies that he likes dm back so dm is doubly confused on what the problem is
- they have a big fight about it . friendship over. petey is too scared of the possibility of dm changing his mind about liking him and he needs control so he cuts him off first. hed rather make dm hate him instead of having to deal with the uncertainty of not knowing when dm will stop liking him (smth smth imposter syndrome). on the other hand dm is like okay so i fucked up and now he has a bad relationship w expressing his wants and needs bc the One time he did it it ended Horribly.
- they were also lwk the only friend they had so they both go back to being friendless
- after graduation petey moves away immediately to get away from his shit ass dad and also bc of the birth of lil petey .
- like i said petey placed dm on a pedestal so he was Fully expecting dm to have left their shitty hometown behind off being successful or whatever. so seeing dm just working at a convenience store is Incredibly jarring for him
- it was never a conscious decision on his part but dm lwk stayed in their hometown bc of petey. similar to that dog hachiko. it felt like to him that leaving their hometown was the same as leaving behind any chance of seeing petey ever again. smth smth loyal like a dog . if peteys response to conflict is to run far away then dms response to conflict is to stay rooted in the past when things were good .
- dm tries to talk to petey abt their fight pre grad but peteys emotionally avoidant and keeps shutting down the convo and dm knows its Fully in character for petey to run away in the face of emotional confrontation. so he js drops it
- anyways they kiss and make up about it evetnually i just dont know how LMFAAOOOOOfun facts:
- the setting is based off of late 1980s south korea aesthetic wise . also contains some aspects of south korean society/culture
- dm is actually really smart . like in canon . hes just not a very good test taker (neurodivergent and easily distracted). in the school rankings hes sorta in the middle. i reckon theres a day where he studies w petey and peteys a little confused at how smart he is bc he wasnt expecting it .
MUSE AUsynopsis:
- this au takes place in the united states in the late 1950s
- petey is an artist and hes commissioned by some elite to create a series of pieces that are meant to unsettle the viewer
- petey has lost all passion for his art at this point in his life. hes solely in it for the money
- petey basically js goes around to look for disturbing shit for inspo (which isnt very hard bc this is the 1950s).
- he does to a ghetto for one of these inspo trips and this is hwo he meets lil petey. lil petey is just a random orphan in this au basically. he bothers petey and follows him around
- petey tries to stay emotionally distant but lil petey reminds him So much of himself . he spent much of his childhood in a hooverville during the great depression.
- eventually lil petey gets a hold of his art supplies and draws something. he has a lot of fun with it (he cant afford pencil and paper so its a relatively new experience) and petey sees that he has a Lot of talent for his age.
- he takes lil petey in as an apprentice of sorts (tooootally not bc he feels shitty leaving him to live in a ghetto)
- through some unrelated series of events lp meets dm and they start hanging out
- in this au greg used to be an anthro dog. not much chnages from canon greg he was just bipedal soemtimes
- he and knight were drafted into the vietnam war together. they got blown up on the warfront and stitched together
- dm hides the fact that hes half man half dog bc of mccarthyism and cultural homogeneity and bc hed rather not get accused of being a commie. he does this by wearing gloves and a scarf . basically just covering up as much skin as he can.
- anyways petey meets dm through lil petey and he sees dm scratching at his stitches. he finally gets the inspo for his unsettling art series and he asks dm to be his muse discretely (since its kinda fucked up to blatantly tell someone they freak u out and that u wanna make an unsettling painting about them)
- dm says okay ! bc hes dm LMFAO
- basically just lp and petey and dm hanging out as petey tries to get sketches in and see what he can paint
- he also uses these hang outs to teach lil petey art stuff. they probs draw together while dm just watches them
- he spends time with dm to try and get ideas for his unsettling paintings but the more time he spends with him the more he realizes he actually Really fucks w dm .
- eventually the plot gets to a point where petey physically cannot see dm in a disturbing light . any time he tries to paint him he paints him beautifully
- ultimately petey tells his commissioner to eat shit and really leans into the beauty . he just keeps painting dm over and over again .
- this kicks off smth similar to the black arts movement; smth smth depiction of an (seemingly) anthro animal in a way that is mundane, beautiful, sweet, overall unprecedentedfun facts:
- petey is part of a biker gang. they dont rlly commit crime they js ride motorcycles and shoot the shit. they only ever get arrested bc of discrimination . the gang consists of the cat jail cats
- dm is involved in the civil rights movement. his experience in the vietnam war made him really outspoken against it
- chief was friends w him and knight during the vietnam war. he also gets involved in the civil rights movement through dm. also makes sense bc hes a black man in this era
- sarah is a reporter still. shes also part of the civil rights movement.
- the social hierarchy in this au places anthro animals just above black people essentially. anthro animals have a history of being infantilized and denied basic rights, but theres no history of them being brutalized. they have about the same legal rights as regular degular animals.
- this is ironic bc socially they are Not considered just animals. but the oppressor wants to maintain their power so theyre gonna deny the rights of the oppressed as much as they can
DIVINE LIBERATION AUsynopsis:
- we begin w petey . hes been turned into a powerless imp by the higher up demons for causing too much trouble. hes given an assignment to corrupt a priest whos been giving the demons trouble. if he succeeds in his corruption hell be given back his original form
- initial interactions between dm and petey are sort unserious and stupid. a lot of petey annoying the hell out of dm and dm tryign to ignore him
- petey gets the genius idea to summon a clone so that he can annoy dm more efficiently. boom lil petey is born
- lil petey is an angel in this au because petey is a fallen angel
